Most people wouldn’t dream of traveling full-time with cats, let alone adopting them abroad. But after falling in love with two street cats in Egypt, we decided to make them part of our nomadic journey.
Our Unusual Beginning: Adopting Cats in Egypt
We adopted our cats while living in Egypt — definitely not the most straightforward place to start international pet travel. But we made it work, navigating paperwork, embassy visits, and a few panicked vet runs. From there, we’ve brought them to Armenia, Ukraine, Montenegro, Spain, and more.
Navigating the Maze: Pet Travel Rules in Different Countries
- Always research pet entry requirements before you book travel.
- Carry digital and printed copies of vet records and vaccines.
- Microchips and rabies vaccines are non-negotiable.
- Some countries are way more pet-friendly than others (hello, Spain 🇪🇸).
- It’s doable — even if you’re figuring it out as you go.
